Memorial Day now has a new meaning to me and my husband. My husband's dear friend Sean Martella passed away early this morning from complications due to testicular cancer and leukemia, leaving behind his beautiful wife Karen who is pregnant with twins. He put up an amazing fight for the past three years or so and I'm so glad my husband and I were able to know him. Sean is half of the reason I even have my husband, he set us up and was there on our first date. I photographed Sean and Karen last year during his second or third relapse and I'm so glad that they are able to have those pictures to remember forever. I feel lucky to have know him for the time we did. My husband and I brought him and his wife dinner on Thursday and were able to be with them at the hospital most of the day yesterday after he was admitted. His death was somewhat unexpected since his doctor had given him 2 to 3 months to live only a few days ago.
So in my effort to help in any way possible, I will be donating every thing I earn this year to Karen and Sean's family to help pay for any expenses. Every. Single. Cent. I ask that you please help me help them by booking any type of photography session this year. I mean anything. I will photograph your dog if it means they get the money. :) Please help by passing this message around to everyone you know to get the word out so that I can make sure to get them as much help as possible. Please email me if you are interested at katieboyackphotography(at)gmail(dot)com. Thank you.
We'll miss you Sean.
